Naples Philharmonic Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra Perform Together

May 20, 2012

Musicians from the Philharmonic Youth Orchestra play side by side with professional musicians from the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra, and by themselves, in the Spring Major/Minor concert. Three Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition winners will also be featured. The concert will be conducted by Andrew Lane and Charles Gottschalk. Highlights include Sibelius’ Finlandia, Gould’s American Salute, Anitra’s Dance from Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite, selections from Tchaikovsky’s beautiful Swan Lake and much more. Come and hear the area’s most accomplished young musicians!

Fun Filled 'Magic Carpet Concerts' at The Phil

The fun-filled Magic Carpet Concerts, an enchanting Philharmonic Center tradition, return with an all-new series of programs highlighting the various sections of the orchestra! Each of these events features a small ensemble from the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra performing a 45-minute program. These programs are primarily for children ages 3-9, but can be enjoyed by everyone. Food and Thought is generously donating organic snacks following each Magic Carpet concert. . All Magic Carpet Concerts are held in Daniels Pavilion. Today's concert features Brass Brass Toons will feature music from some of your favorite cartoons. You’ll learn how the musicians make sounds on the trumpet, horn, trombone and the huge tuba. .

Each of these events features a small ensemble from the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra performing a 45-minute program. These programs are primarily for children ages 3-9, but can be enjoyed by everyone. Food and Thought is generously donating organic snacks following each Magic Carpet concert. All Magic Carpet Concerts are held in Daniels Pavilion. Today's concert features Percussion Members of the percussion section are just plain crazy about playing the drums! They will shake, scrape and strike their way to entertain and enlighten you!

The Phil presents A Festival of Great Organ Music

The best organists in Southwest Florida will perform a wide range of music on the Philharmonic Center’s 3,604-pipe Casavant organ. This exciting concert event features members of the Southwest Florida Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, including well-known organists from local churches and other performance venues. Selections will include classic organ works from all periods of music history, including Barber’s Adagio for Strings, transcriptions of Verdi’s Prelude to La Traviata and Bizet’s Entry of the Toreadors from Carmen, Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in A minor, Widor’s Toccata from Symphony No. 5 and more.
