January –
Southwest Florida Nature Festival – features guided trips to birding hot spots, educational and fun family activities. Hosted by the
Rookery Bay National Estuarine Reserve. May 1 – October 31 Sea Turtle Nesting Season – the annual season for sea turtles to build nests and lay their eggs on Southwest Florida Beaches.
September –
Clyde Butcher’s Annual Labor Day Muck-About – a weekend filled with guided swamp walks in the
Big Cypress National Preserve.
October 28-29, 2011 –
First Annual Florida Panther Festival– small group guided field trips into panther territory on October 28 (fees vary), and a full day of fun, music, food, entertainment and lots of fascinating information about the Florida Panther at the free public festival on October 29.
