It’s time to celebrate the arts in paradise.
On the Paradise Coast, this time of year brings an array of artistic performances as dazzling as the sparkling beaches. Throughout November – Celebrate The Arts Month – you can enjoy more than 100 exciting events, from the Naples International Film Festival to the Celebration of Lights in downtown Naples. Make your plans now to visit during this festive time of year and enjoy perfect weather, beautiful beaches and one of Florida’s most vibrant art scenes. Also enjoy $1000s in savings on hotels, dining, spas, golf, attractions and more with Paradise Priced Perfectly.
The Naples International Film Festival runs November 3-6, featuring the best in independent, general release and documentary films, as well as a Florida Films category. Walk the red carpet at the opening night party at the Naples Philharmonic Center for the Arts. Enjoy the Florida premiere of East Fifth Bliss, an independent comedy/drama starring Michael C. Hall, Lucy Liu and Peter Fonda. Directed by Michael Knowles, the film tells the story of Morris Bliss (Michael C. Hall), an immature 35-year-old, who is stuck in a rut on Manhattan’s lower east side until an awkward relationship with a precocious 18-year-old shakes up his static world. Filmmakers will be in attendance for a discussion immediately following the film. Throughout the weekend at Mercato’s Silverspot Luxury Cinema, you can watch films you can't see anywhere else and meet the filmmakers for intimate question and answer sessions following the screenings.
Theater buffs can enjoy:- "Later Life", a funny and insightful comedy, presented by The Naples Players.
- "Handle With Care", a warm-hearted romantic comedy about love, fate and communication gaps presented by the Gulfshore Playhouse. With Paradise Priced Perfectly, you can buy one ticket and receive the second one at half price.
- “Chapter Two” by Neil Simon, a touching and hilarious story of relationships presented by The Marco Players.
The arts also come alive at the Philharmonic Center for the Arts, from Madama Butterfly performed by the Sarasota Opera (Nov. 8) to The Nutcracker performed by the Miami City Ballet on Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 26-27). Both shows also feature the talents of the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra. For complete dates and times for these and other performances, visit their website. You can also see the all-star lineup of other performances and plan your visit to enjoy one.
Enjoy the beautiful weather and great music with a free jazz concert in lovely Cambier Park on Sunday, November 20 from 2-4 pm. This free concert series is ongoing and takes place on the third Sunday of every month through April.
Another free event not to be missed is the Festival of Lights on November 21 from 6-9 pm along Third Street South in downtown Naples. Welcome the holiday season with a Tree Lighting Ceremony, musicians, carolers, festivities and “snow.” The celebration continues November 22-26 from 6-9 pm with festivities nightly except for Thanksgiving - the perfect atmosphere to explore the shops along Third Street South for one-of-a-kind holiday gifts. Or stroll over to Fifth Avenue South and enjoy an Evening on Fifth on November 25 from 6:30-9:30 pm, also featuring live music and fabulous shops and restaurants.
The festivities continue Thanksgiving weekend at the 8th Annual Naples Fall Fine Art and Craft Festival, November 26-27 from 10 am-5 pm in downtown Naples. Enjoy holiday carolers while you browse hand-made, one-of-a-kind work from over 125 artists from around the country – a great place to find unique holiday gifts.
Art lovers will also want to stop by the von Liebig Art Center to see the 49th Founders Juried Awards Exhibition, showing until December 3. This free exhibition is one of Naples’ most established and features two and three-dimensional artwork by Naples Art Association members.
