Now here is a truly relaxing and guilt-free massage. The oils are produced from only hand-picked organic products. Everything from robes to cotton pads comes from organic materials. Plus, a percentage of each treatment's fee goes to the Conservancy of Southwest Florida.
Naples' newest spa, Bellasera Hotel's Verde, clearly has a conscience. It, along with other local spas, goes the way of its name, which means "green" in Italian. Spas throughout the Paradise Coast care for the health of the planet as well as for their guests' health. Green is the latest tint in spas, and local resort and day spas are right on top of what's new and best in spa development.
With three treatment rooms and a boutique approach to services, Bellasera is nonetheless full-service. It specializes in some of the "hands-off" services taught and developed by Naples-based therapist Michelle D. Mace-Lambert, founder of Barefoot Masters. Besides hot stone massage and Ashiatsu (where therapists use their feet to massage), she teaches her Bamboossage method, employing heated bamboo and rattan tools for deep, even pressure.
Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort's grand 24-room spa offers its own Bamboo Massage Therapy on its extensive menu. Signature is its Balinese massage, which combines Hindu,

Chinese and European methods for the best and most relaxing of all worlds. Many of its services use organic products and the staff is developing green treatments.
At The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, the spa devotes its Eco Treatment Room to environmental awareness, furnished with sustainable products from bamboo floors to bamboo linens. It offers two treatments, the Eco-Luxe Facial and Eco-Luxe Cocoon, that use pure, biodegradable products free of endangered plants, chemicals, mineral oil and synthetic fragrances. The towels used in the treatments are washed separately in fragrance-free, natural cleansers.
Several local spas, including Bellasera, use the Eminence Organics line of products made in Hungary without the use of gas-guzzling machinery. Two of Naples' newest spas also show their eco-conscience with this purest line. At Naples Bay Resort, treatments, such as the Organic Carrot and Vitamin Rich Body Scrub and Wrap and the Custom Organic Fruits and Vegetables Facial, work on the premise that the majority of what you put on your skin gets absorbed into the body.
Naples Grande Beach Resortopened the first Golden Door Spa on the U.S. East Coast in 2007. It professes Zen relaxation throughout its 12 treatment rooms and gardens

and practices environmental soundness as part of a certified Florida Green Lodging property. Also applying the Eminence products, it customizes Golden Door's classic treatments to the location. Two examples are the Invigorating Avocado Citrus Wrap and a facial using hibiscus extracts and stones that the Seminole Indians consider restorative.
To maintain the balance of earthly and personal health, many spas are going the direction of vegan, chemical-free nail polishes. Spa Terre at LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort has adopted the practice in keeping with its Eastern focus of simplicity and peace. The Inn on Fifth, too, adheres to philosophies of feng shui and Zen to bring oneness with the planet to its guests. Some of the spa's signature therapies, such as the Aromatherapy Salt Glow Scrub, incorporate organic botanicals and therapeutic-grade essential oils.
In keeping with its "good earthkeeping" practices, Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club uses a saline purification system rather than chlorine and chemicals in its spa whirlpools. Its Nature's Ultimate Facial employs the healing power of fruit, flowers and other plants. Marco Beach Ocean Resort's Mudflat Wrap uses 100 percent natural marine-based ingredients.
Away from the resort spas, independent day spas keep in tune with the trends and the earth. Medical spas, where a doctor on staff extends the realm of services, is an up-and-coming "wrinkle" in the spa game, and La Piel Spa in Naples is a forerunner. Spa 41 adds tanning beds and spray tanning to the typical complement of treatments.
Earth awareness, organics, simplicity and nature: They all figure into the new wave of spa treatments, helping to put the "paradise" in the Paradise Coast.
